About the Area

Wells-next-the-Sea is situated on the picturesque North Norfolk coast. It is a popular quayside town with a long sandy beach with brightly painted beach huts and a maze of narrow streets steeped in history.

Wells has a good selection of shops including a couple of small supermarkets (Leftleys & Kinsleys) and a Co-op (with cash point), local butchers and bakers, fish mongers, newsagents, chemist, greengrocers, delicatessens plus a Barclays bank (with cash point), a Post office and a wide variety of other shops. There is also an excellent health centre, dentist and a vets. The nearest major supermarkets (Tesco, Morrissons, Lidl) and petrol stations are in Fakenham - about 10 miles from Wells.

Wagtails' is situated on the quiet southern side of the town away from the bustle of the shops, pubs and cafes, but within a 10 minute stroll.

The dog friendly Bowling Green PH which does excellent value pub meals (normally best to reserve a table) is about 100 metres from the door.

Wells has an excellent variety of eateries: from the Crown Hotel run by TV chef Chris Coubrough, The Globe and the Wells Crab House (they don't just serve crab and fish!) where they will be able to let you know not only where the 'catch of the day' was caught but probably what time - to delicious Frenchs Fish 'n' Chips and many, many more.

Wells is ideally situated to explore further afield - from Hunstanton & Kings Lynn in the West to Cromer & Sheringham in the East and inland to the cathedral city of Norwich and the stunning Norfolk Broads. For the younger visitors a trip to the famous BeWILDerwood in Hoveton and the Dinosaur Adventure Park at Lenwade are approx 1 hours drive away and for the green fingered the stunning gardens at the Old Vicarage in East Ruston is definitely not one to miss.
